Best Friends’ Endowment Fund
Contributions to the endowment fund for Best Friends of Shelter Pets at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation are an investment in Best Friends’ future. Contributions are added to the fund balance, and Best Friends receives a distribution of earnings each year.
The Oklahoma City Community Foundation offers a simple, flexible way to contribute a variety of assets to the endowment fund including stocks and bonds, IRAs, real estate, oil and gas interests, royalty interests, and life insurance.
Bequests
A bequest is simply a provision in your will to leave a gift to Best Friends of Shelter Pets. A charitable bequest is fully deductible from your estate and may significantly reduce taxes on the balance of your estate. You may also leave a gift to Best Friends of Shelter Pets in your living trust.
When your attorney draws up your will or family trust, we suggest using the following sample language:
“I give to Best Friends of Shelter Pets, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in Oklahoma City, OK the sum of $__ for its general purposes.”
Rather than leaving a sum certain, you can include language that refers to a percentage of your estate or a description of the property you wish to give.
